IllinoisNet Wireless – Android 4.0

The configuration works on Android 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3.

Go to Settings → Wi-Fi, tap IllinoisNet.

Configure the network as follows:

Only the option in bold requires your modification, the rest are the default settings.

  • Security: 802.1x EAP // not shown before Android 4.3
  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • CA certificate: (unspecified)
  • User certificate: (unspecified) // shown only before Android 4.3

Then enter your login information:

  • Identity: Your NetID
  • Anonymous identity: Leave it blank
  • Password: Your Active Directory password

Hit “Connect”. It can take several seconds to complete.

All the settings, including your login information, are saved and your phone automatically connects as soon as IllinoisNet is in range.
Long-pressing IllinoisNet brings up context menu from which you may select Modify network to change the settings, or Forget network to delete the stored information.

Troubleshooting
  1. Regarding EAP method, TTLS is problematic on Android 4.0+. Use the default method PEAP.
  2. Some instances have been reported that on certain phones, PEAP does not work. In that case, use TTLS.
