Caffeine Break 2011-11-11
IT Pro Forum

approx attendance: 16

420 registrants
50 no shows
30 walk ins that registered
? just walked in

$14,000 in funding
$7,000 this year cost
$7,500 – $8,000 contributed by vendors

vendors room is at capacity
vendors are first come first serve
plan b, for posters to move elsewhere
vendors liked the way we ensure vendor participation

  • appreciate being in the room that we eat in
  • appreciate the scavenger hunt

we have gotten request from non-U IT Pros

if we advertise it, we could get more vendors

if we open it up to non-U, have to charge reg, because UofI funds pay for it

Do we want to use technology (UC) for the presenters

  • can help expand the audience

Biggest expense is food and venue.

Mobile schedule was great

  • need to add the code to the mobile site

had fewer people sign up to present

Code Slam wasn’t really a code slam, but was helpful

Side rooms was good

good probality of winning something due to low numbers putting stuff in basket

UIC and UIS (phil ryder – UIS Pharmacy) attended

lack of keynote was not really missed

Past memorable presenters:

  • Brad Wheeler (Indiana Univ)
  • Jared Spool (webmaster)

Topics for the future:

  • Digital Collaboration (Phil? from NCSA) –
    • Poster Sessions not charged
  • Access Grid at NCSA presentation (Phil)
  • Functionality sessions (Irene S.)

Liked having a facilitator at every session – made it feel more professional

Ask presenters to submit how they would like to be introduced
