What is the IT WaterCooler?
A number of IT professionals were discussing new methods the IT community could use to share information and collaborate. They considered a few ideas: videos to explore IT topics or stories in a new dimension; short stories about IT events and opportunities; forums that facilitated concentrated discussions. Some volunteers collaborated on a method for bringing these ideas together into a single, online presence, and the IT WaterCooler was born.
The IT WaterCooler is a web site devoted to sharing information, communication and educating the IT and campus communities. News articles and video/audio content will come from dedicated sources and also, hopefully, from you, our readers. Our forums are open to everyone on campus and will cover a number of general or specific topics.
Why should you use the IT WaterCooler?
We believe you will find useful information here that you might not easily find elsewhere, such as:
- Announcements of new services that you might be interested in using
- Requests for skill sets or experience with specific technologies
- Ideas for delivering services that everyone could benefit from adopting
How does the IT WaterCooler work?
It’s simple: if you’re part of this campus, you have access to the entire site through your NetID and AD password. If you’re not part of the Illinois campus, you have access to our news stories, blogs and A/V content; the forums are for campus use only.
News stories are routinely updated by our contributing editors. Guest contributors are encouraged to submit articles on virtually any topic related to IT or its use on this campus. You can visit our submission guidelines for more information on how to submit your content.
